Since 2014, the 48 NORTH team has been conducting post-construction monitoring of Ebright Creek after housing developments in the City of Sammamish. Our team has been monitoring both the habitat and water quality of Ebright Creek.

Submarine Fiber Optic Cable

48 NORTH supported NEC Submarine Networks Division (NEC Corporation) with the environmental permitting of the FASTER Cable project, a newly constructed trans-Pacific undersea fiber optic telecommunications cable system operated by Google, linking the west coast of the United States with Japan.

Pensacola Bay Bridge: Hydroacoustic Consulting & Monitoring 
​48 North is proud to support the Skanska/Parsons Brinckerhoff Design-Build team for the construction of the new Pensacola Bay Bridge with hydroacoustic consultation and underwater noise monitoring services. Our own Jan Brandt is assisting the design team in underwater noise modeling resulting from pile driving operations, development of ESA consultation strategies with USFWS, as well as real time underwater noise monitoring during construction of the new bridge.

Marine Renewable Energy

We are supporting the University of Washington Applied Physics Laboratory’s (UW-APL) Marine Hydrokinetic (MHK) Device Testing Initiative with permitting support for all phases of the project.  The Navy funded MHK project is developing and testing technologies for converting the energy in waves, currents, and wind into electricity for US Navy.

Arctic Ice Camp (ICEX2016)

We worked with the UW's Applied Physics Lab (APL) and the U.S. Navy to obtain all environmental permits for a temporary camp on ice. Since no federal agency had issued permits of this type before in the Arctic Ocean, 48 NORTH explored the gambit of applicable federal laws and obtained the first NPDES permit for a temporary ice camp.
