Long-Term Biological and Water Quality Monitoring of Ebright Creek

Since 2014, the 48 NORTH team has been conducting post-construction monitoring of Ebright Creek after housing developments in the City of Sammamish. Our team has been monitoring both the habitat and water quality of Ebright Creek.

Submarine Cables

48 NORTH has supported a variety of submarine cables, including six major trans-Pacific, regional, and scientific fiber optic cable installations in the US. The 48 NORTH team also developed Landing Point Studies, identifying and recommending submarine cable landings that are technically feasible, permittable, and environmentally viable.

Fish Exclusion

Fish exclusion minimizes impacts to the aquatic habitat during in-water construction in fish bearing streams. 48 NORTH’s fisheries staff are well-versed in fish exclusion, including the development and execution of both formal and informal Fish Exclusion Plans. In addition to trained fisheries staff, 48 NORTH has an electrofishing unit, and block, dip, and seine nets ready to deploy.

Arctic Ice Camp (ICEX2016)

We worked with the University of Washington's Applied Physics Lab (UW-APL) and the U.S. Navy to obtain all environmental permits for a temporary camp on ice. Since no federal agency had issued permits of this type before in the Arctic Ocean, 48 NORTH explored the gambit of applicable federal laws and obtained the first NPDES permit for a temporary ice camp.
